Helped residents of an old age home with supplies and improved their quality of life by exterminating bedbugs

Koyikkaleth family is known for their social commitments and for helping the needy. The current generation is also taking this great heritage forward. We have recently conducted an extermination of bedbugs in an old age home. Government and people support old age homes and orphanages with food, medicines, and shelter but often overlook the quality of life of the residents. Koyikkaleth’s family members made a timely intervention and successfully executed a bedbug extermination program in the old age home.

It all happened when one of our family members visited an old age home in Kerala as a part of her routine charity practice. The residents of this old age home were women; most of them were abandoned by their children for whom they sacrificed their entire lives. There were mothers with ailments and others were bedridden.

The residents were delighted after experiencing the compassion and love of our members. They asked one of us to sit on the bed. When she looked for a place to sit on the bed, what she saw was shocking There were bedbugs and their eggs all over the steel bed. On enquiring, she came to know that bedbugs were a perennial problem there. Some of the residents had severe skin infections and most of them were sleep deprived. We found this as a genuine call for help and decided to go ahead with this initiative .

We identified a professional services agency for the extermination activity. After receiving approval from the authorities, the extermination took two weeks to complete. During a recent visit to the old age home after the extermination, those mothers hugged our members with joy and gratitude that made us realize where heaven is!!!

We also supplied adult diapers and other supporting medicines that were required for those mothers. Our ancestors would be really happy seeing those satisfied faces from heaven.

We dedicate this entire charity work in the name of our late Dr. K.C Raveendranath who is known for his compassion towards the helpless and poor.
